Todd Dear is a Calgary native who has practised law in Alberta for almost twenty years. His career includes experience in positions from small law offices to mid-size firms, and executive level in-house roles. He has balanced legal and business skills, with extensive experience in litigation, risk management and commercial real estate.
Todd received a B.A. in English from the University of Calgary in 1992 and an LL.B. (Hons.) from the University in Wales in 1997. While articling and practising with two of Calgary’s leading boutique firms, Todd gained considerable experience as a litigator and advocate, and in 2005 transferred those skills to the business world. A series of roles in the title insurance industry included business development, sales, and management, and culminated in an entrepreneurship position with a $500M financial services start-up. Todd is a past CPLED Facilitator, a LESA guest lecturer, and a paralegal course teacher with an affinity for people and a desire to serve others. As a fifth generation Calgarian, Todd has many roots and connections to the surrounding community, and subscribes to the traditional Albertan values of hard work and partnership.
